    POMEROY–Perfect weather conditions greeted those attending the old-fashioned ice cream social at the Pataha Flour Mill on June 12, put on to honor Pioneer Day, which is normally held on the second Saturday of June. Reminiscent of past years when the celebration was staged outside at the city park, the crowd gathered at the gazebo next to the mill.     POMEROY–A dedication service for the Fallen Veteran's Memorial located at the east entrance of the Pomeroy City Cemetery will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 12 p.m. Prior to the ceremony, the Garfield County Fire District will place flags on the headstones of all veterans as well as those of the women's auxiliary. Garfield County Fair Board president Sara Lunsford said the breakfast event usually held to raise money for the fair is not going to happen this year and asked the group for other fundraising ideas.     POMEROY–The City Council approved the use of the City Park for the Farmer’s Market. Danielle Evans spoke to the Council regarding a Farmer’s Market at the city park. She has been working with the Chamber of Commerce and plans are to have the market open from 4–7 p.m. on days that are still to be determined. Expectations are to have the market run for eight weeks, from mid-June to mid-August, when business usually drops off due to harvest.
