    POMEROY-Beautiful weather gave a pleasant atmosphere to National Night Out, held in the Pomeroy City Park on Aug. 8.     PALOUSE–The Pomeroy Pirate swim team came in second by a single point at the Tri-County swim meet on August 3. Peyton Newberg won every race she entered, and high point for her age group, Girls 12 and under. Brantley McKeirnan also won high point for his age group, Boys 8 and under.     POMEROY–The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) passed a six month moratorium on acceptances of Conditional Use Permits (CUP), opened bids, and discussed the law enforcement contract between the City of Pomeroy and Garfield County at their meeting on August 5.     POMEROY–A fire that began on the South Deadman has burned multiple structures, including two residences. A rough estimate has placed the acreage burned between 2,000 and 14,500, according to the Incident Management Team's public information.
