    POMEROY–The Garfield County Transportation Authority (CTA) discussed electric vehicles and a rider incident at their meeting on April 17. In view of the hilly terrain in Garfield County, as well as the extremes to which the temperatures can swing from over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to below zero degrees in the winter, the CTA deemed electric vehicles to be unfeasible.     POMEROY–The Garfield County Public Health District (PHD)board passed two resolutions and discussed the You Are Heard survey at their meeting on April 17. PHD’s Administrator Martha Lanman announced that the district has received 296 surveys as part of the You Are Heard survey campaign. The deadline for the surveys has been extended to April 30.     POMEROY-An assembly was held at the gym for the kick-off of the Safe Homes program. Several High School teachers were among those who signed Pomeroy Partners Coalition's Safe Homes pledge at a PHS assembly on April 13. Safe Homes is a pledge-based, drug prevention project that helps parent communicate with each other and unite to prevent the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs by their youth.     POMEROY–The Pomeroy Spinners honored the legacy of Dick Martin at their 16th annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on April 8. Martin was part of the five-member group that changed the Jaycees to the Pomeroy Spinners in 1978 and was a faithful member until his recent passing.     POMEROY–The Spring Farming Days was delayed due to wet ground at the Garfield County Fairgrounds on April 1 and 2. Recent rains imposed a halt to farming activities in the hay field when deemed too wet to plow on Saturday morning. Horses and mules waited at their trailers or in the horse arenas while the field dried. Plowing began in the afternoon with the horse and mules teams. Farming was finished on Sunday by tractor.
