POMEROY–County Engineer Grant Morgan reported the start date for the pavement sealing project on the upper Deadman at the Garfield County Commissioners meeting on April 4. The project will begin on April 25, and the County Road Crew is currently working on widening shoulders of the road in preparation. POMEROY–It was announced at a City Council meeting in March that Diane Taylor will be the new City Clerk and Treasurer. She will begin work in Pomeroy on April 1, succeeding Shaun Martin, who is retiring. Taylor graduated Pomeroy High School in 1982, and received an associate's degree in accounting from Spokane Falls. She spent 10 years working as an accountant, after which she took general and science courses from Lewis Clark Community College for three years. Taylor said she is looking f...
POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) receives a grant from Washington State Fair Capital Grant fund, and approved Resolutions 2022-10 and 2022-11 at their meeting March 28. It was announced the county received a Washington State Fair Capital Grant for $81,100, half of the $162,000 to complete the fairground irrigation and electrical. POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council approved a contract with Arrow Concrete and Asphalt at their meeting on Maarch 21. The contract is for $35,000 to refurbish the tennis courts at the City Park. POMEROY–The Pomeroy School District board of directors (PSD) hired Nikki Halbert and Jonathan Davis at their meeting on March 22. Halbert and Davis will be assistant track coaches for the 2022 season. The PSD directors approved calendar negotiations from the Garfield County Education Association, and have set the 2022-23 school year calendar. POMEROY–The Garfield County Fire District No. 1 commissioners held a special meeting to discuss repairs to the Medic 30 ambulance on March 15. The ambulance has had diagnostics run and is believed to have a cracked head. Any further diagnostics would require an engine tear down, which could cost upwards of $7,000. POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council announced the retirement of Shaun Martin as City Clerk and Treasurer, and the Complete Streets project update at the meeting on March 8. POMEROY–The Port of Garfield County commissioners passed a resolution to clarify an RV Park rule at their meeting on March 15. Resolution 2022- No. 3 states that a camper who is not living at the Pataha Creek RV Park may camp for four weeks every 120 days.
