By Sen. Mark Schoesler, Rep. Joe Schmick and Rep. Mary Dye OLYMPIA–After 60 days of public hearings, lengthy floor debate, citizen rallies and meeting with citizens from all corners of Washington state, the 2020 legislative session is now in the history books, wrapping up the public's business on Thursday, March 12–and without a special session. Betty Lynne is a cowboy. If you don’t believe it ask her husband to show you the snapshot of her bruise. Last summer they had a cow killed by lightening on their ranch. They figgered they’d better bring in the orphaned calf. The afternoon of the rescue, Betty Lynne saddled ol’ Frosty, a reliable ex-Appaloosa race horse. That allowed Sean, her husband, to ride T-Bird, one of the colts they were training. They trailered to the pasture. Sean stayed outside the bunch, practicin’ quarter circles...
To the editor, There are three things in life I will never understand. Democratic dedication to senior citizen candidates, Rabid Republican dedication to party over country, and a Pomeroy resident’s love of an old dilapidated hospital. All of these scenarios are counterproductive and cost more than they’re worth, in my opinion. I wouldn’t care, but as a property owner, I have to pay for these damn levies their pushing down our throats. There are 2,200 (or so) people living in Garfield county and most of them are non-property and non-b...

Exposure to our patients could result in multiple deaths or exposure and quarantine of our staff could shut down operations....

I was going to get healthier and live a little bit more. Turns out there’s a pandemic that has closed our school, put a hold on sports and other school and social activities. The one cancellation I have no problem with is State testing, but it’s disturbing to think that our school is now closed due to the Coronavirus when a couple months...
