    POMEROY–The Easter season comes early this year and the Pataha Flour Mill will hold Holy Week services on Friday, March 29 and Sunday, March 31.     POMEROY–The City Council is in the final stages of placing the Planning Commission back into operation. The Commission, established under Title 16, was created in 1997 by way of City Ordinance 747. It has not been active for many years. At its March meeting, Councilors agreed that reactivation was necessary and recommended some adjustments moving forward.     Former Pomeroy coach and teacher Jay Bender celebrated his 100th birthday on Monday, March 18, 2024. Many of his students and friends left birthday wishes on a Facebook post, including Susan Morrow, who remembered Mr. Bender for setting an example of integrity and honesty with his students.     POMEROY–Broomstick Pool Tournament was a "George" this year with two winners; Chris Rardin, for the eighth time, and Drew Zorza. This year, 23 members were present for the well-attended sponsored event. Teams met Friday, March 15 at 6 p.m. for qualifying.     POMEROY–The Pomeroy Gun Club members were greeted with beautiful spring weather this past weekend March 16-17 during the final week of the 10-week competition, and the nice conditions resulted in better scores.
