    POMEROY–Firefighting units from Garfield County Fire District 1, Columbia County Fire Districts 1, and 3; and Columbia/Walla Walla joint District 2, responded to a barn fire at the Robert and Ruth Yutzy place at 410 Emerson Road here, late Monday morning, March 20, 2023. The Yutzy's large stock barn and a single-wide mobile home trailer were totally destroyed.     POMEROY–The Garfield County Transportation Authority (CTA) signed paperwork from a previous agreement and discussed an in-progress audit at their meeting on March 20. A Washington State Department of Transportation grant amendment, incorporating and extra allocation of $9,823, was discussed at a previous CTA meeting.     POMEROY–The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) tentatively approved a letter, and discussed a bid for a belly dump trailer at their meeting on March 20. The BOCC approved the signing of a letter of approval, pending viewing by Garfield County Prosecutor Matt Newberg. Mary Dye that would allow local fire departments who use aviation suppression efforts on the initial attack of brush, timber, and grass fires to be reimbursed by the state for those expenses.     POMEROY–The Pomeroy Spinners hosted the 38th annual St. Patrick's Day broomstick pool tournament at the Maple Hall on March 17 and 18. A total of 55 teams played in the tournament.     Ten Years Ago March 27, 2013 Eero Kovero brought his seventh group since 2010 to the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum at the Garfield County Fairgrounds on Sunday. The farmer and tour leader from Finland brought 10 other farmers from the south of that county to Washington state, landing in Seattle on Monday.     WALLA WALLA–Pomeroy senior Chase Caruso shot a 92 at the Walla Walla High School Invitational golf match March 15, finishing in fifth place among 25 girls from some of the biggest schools in Washington and Oregon.     POMEROY–The Liberty Lady Lancers made quick work of the Lady Pirates in the season opener, and the local nine rebounded with more hits and runs in the night cap, but still was behind after six innings.
