POMEROY– Joe Dixon's long-time residence was lost to fire last Saturday, March 21, displacing Dixon, and a family living with him, at 1281 Pataha Street. Pomeroy fire crews were called to the 6:08 p.m. fire, which bystanders said quickly engulfed the entire residence, which was not occupied at the time. There were no injuries. POMEROY–The Board of Commissioners for the Garfield County Hospital District (GCHD) voted 3-1 to conduct the Special Levy election as originally scheduled, April 28, with ballots to be mailed out April 10, 2020. Commissioners met in the hospital parking lot Tuesday afternoon, March 17, to discuss the possible cancellation of the April special levy election. OLYMPIA–Washingtonians are under a two-week, statewide “stay home” order, announced by Governor Jay Inslee last Monday evening. The order, effective immediately, will last for two weeks and could be extended. This “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order is similar to California and New York. To the editor, While I am sitting here recovering from lung surgery, I realize I have a responsibility to share my experience. I was experiencing respiratory issues and went to the local clinic. I was admitted to our hospital. I spent a night, was given IV medication and then discharged. Not feeling as though I was recovering as fast as I should, I returned to our local clinic and was sent for X-rays. POMEROY–Garfield County Transportation Authority (GCTA) Director Rachel Anderson, discussed a change in transportation service hours, beginning April 1, 2020 during the regular meeting March 16. Trips to the Lewis-Clark Valley will reduce to two days per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. OLYMPIA–Sen. Mark Schoesler, R-9th, is pleased with the Legislature’s unanimous passage of a compromise state supplemental capital budget that funds several projects in the 9th Legislative District.
