    POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) accepted an amendment from the County Road Commissioners Board to the Rural Arterial Program (RAP) at their meeting on May 17. The amendment grants additional funds of $1,295,000 to bring the total amount of money up to $2,403,000. RAP is a state grant program that the county will use to fund improvements on the Kirby Mayview Road.     POMEROY–The Garfield County Fire Department’s (GCFD) new ambulance is in service, Fire Chief James Cleveland reported at the GCFD’s monthly commissioner’s meeting on May 11.     CLE ELUM–Pirate golfer Chase Caruso topped the competition here May 4, leading a field of 22 women golfers. The match was played at Suncadia Resort's Prospector Golf Course, and it is known as a difficult, tree-lined venue with a high level of difficulty.
