    POMEROY–A dedication service for the Fallen Veteran's Memorial located at the east entrance of the Pomeroy City Cemetery will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 12 p.m. Prior to the ceremony, the Garfield County Fire District will place flags on the headstones of all veterans as well as those of the women's auxiliary.   • Health District needs another board member

    POMEROY–The Garfield County Health District announced the addition of a board member as required by new Foundation of Public Health Services regulations at their monthly meeting on May 24. This addition must be completed by January of 2022. Two resolutions were passed. Resolution 2021-11 removes a task from the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program that has been found unnecessary.     POMEROY–The traditional Pioneer Breakfast will not be happening again this year. Garfield County Fair Board president Sara Lunsford said the breakfast event usually held to raise money for the fair is not going to happen this year and asked the group for other fundraising ideas.     POMEROY–The Garfield County Commissioners (BOCC) opened and read two bids for the hay crop for the Garfield County Fairgrounds at their meeting on May 24. The winning bid was submitted by Ledgerwood Farms at $90 a ton. State Rep. Joe Schmick, R-9, Colfax, attended the meeting hearing the commissioners' current concerns.     POMEROY–Citing the increasing tendency of campers to overstay their time limits, Garfield County Port Commissioners Ed Crawford, Larry Scoggin, and Matt Herres voted to remove the monthly rate for Pataha Creek RV Park at their meeting on May 18.     OLYMPIA–Secretary of State Kim Wyman is seeking clarification from Thurston County Superior Court about the order in which two acts signed into law simultaneously by Gov. Jay Inslee should be filed. The two acts in question are Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1336 and Second Substitute Senate Bill 5383, both of which were signed simultaneously by the governor on May 13 according to his office.
