    WALLA WALLA–The Walla Walla Community College Foundation announce the Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation scholarship recipients for 2024-25. The scholarships honor the generosity of Harold and Helen Shepherd who were active civic leaders in Garfield County. The recipients are Jayson Bartles, Kelly Castellanos, Kiley Davis, Nicholas Hastings, Brodie Magill, Neosha Ren, Lacee Sanford, and Timothy Sigmon.     POMEROY–The Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum's newly concreted parking lot brings the facility into compliance with ADA regulations. "We wanted to make it compliant for walkers and wheelchairs," said past EWAM president Patti Weaver.   • Hospital to fund the last phase of electrical project

    POMEROY–The Garfield County Hospital District board of commissioners decided to fund phase two of the electrical project and heard a cost report presentation at their meeting on May 6. The commissioners approved spending $278,500 to finish the electrical project, including funding all of phase two.     Sharon Irene Gormsen June 25, 1943–May 18, 2024 Sharon Irene Gormsen of Pomeroy died Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of 80. Sharon was born June 25, 1943, in Potlatch, Idaho, to Fred and Cleo (Shaffer) Nowack. Sharon graduated from Potlatch High School in 1961. In 1961 she married the love of her life, Leon Gormsen, in Potlach Idaho. In 1967 they moved to Pomeroy, Wash., where they raised their three children.     TUMWATER–The Pomeroy Pirate Golf Team were unfortunately bumped from the second day of competition due to missing the cut off here last week. "Neither one made the cut for day two," commented Head Coach Al Damron of the two Pirate golfers who qualified for state, Reggie Ott and Kiersten Bartels.
