    POMEROY–Chairwoman of the Board Cindy Wolf reported that she had spoken again with Jody Corona, the strategic planner working with the district during the Garfield County Hospital District (GCHD) Board meeting Monday, October 7. Corona had sent a planning packet, and Wolf went through it with her over the phone.     To the editor, I am currently a general surgeon in active practice in Detroit. I grew up in Garfield County and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1959. I currently own property in Garfield County and a house in Pomeroy. Garfield County Memorial Hospital is near and dear to me. My first job (for which I needed a social security number) was a cook on the afternoon shift at the hospital at the age of 18. GCHD will continue to recruit for two additional providers, ideally a M.D. and a mid-level provider. Co-CEOs Mat Slaybaugh and Jayd Keener are working with a company called Allevant whose focus is primarily helping critical access hospitals (CAH) boost their swing-bed programs.     TROY-DEARY–Robert Des Jardin, Fred Zack and Larry Bunch attended the two-day shoot at the Gun Club there October 5-6. While Pomeroy members did not bring home any trophies, they shot fair scores. On Saturday, Des Jardin posted a 96, Bunch a 95 and Zack 94 in singles. Des Jardin also had the best score in Handicap of the three with an 86. Bunch posted a 90 in Doubles.     SPRINGDALE–A squeaky-tight, competitive contest was broken open in the fourth quarter when the Pomeroy Pirates–on the legs of quarterback Brandon Bales–rallied with three touchdowns for a 60-38 non-conference win over Mary Walker here Friday, October 11.
