    POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council granted a variance, authorized inter-local agreement, and $56,370 for pump project. The council authorized use of $56,370 of American Rescue Plan funds for a booster pump station project.     POMEROY–The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) approved resolutions 2021-20 and 2021-21 which increases the tax levy rate by 1% at the November 22 meeting. Resolution 2021-20 applied to the general levy and increased by $7,872.79 for a total of $801,403.86 to be collected. Resolution 2021-21 applied to Garfield County Road District and increased by $8,653.05 for a total of $897,502.35 to be collected. The BOCC also adopted Juneteenth as an official holiday.     POMEROY–The Port of Garfield County Board of Commissioners announced the United States Forest Service paused the vaccine requirements on entry into the building at their meeting on November 16. Installation of the new blinds and flooring that had been obstructed by the requirements will be done as soon as possible.     POMEROY–Local FFA members attended FFA Land Evaluation Career Development events held nearby this fall, which lead up to the State contest November 3. The State contest for FFA members was held in Columbia County on November 3. Twenty-six teams from around the State competed in this event.     PENDLETON–Personal-use firewood cutting on the Umatilla National Forest will end Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021. Firewood permits will not be available again until May 2022. The public is asked to take additional precautions when cutting firewood late in the fall when road and soil conditions become slick, soggy and saturated.
