"I felt that Ireland had two sets of nearly perfect play from the setter's position," he said. The coach complimented the junior setter for her "great choices...
The process of shearing sheep (usually yearly) doesn’t hurt the sheep but they don’t like it. They are put in a variety of uncomfortable positions and appear much different (seemingly humiliated) afterwards. Sometimes sheep are purposely deprived of food and water so that they are too weak to struggle against the process. Most often they are silent. The Bible teaches that Jesus is the lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. Like a sheep, He was willingly shorn of all His rig...

We are all tempted to be afraid on occasion, especially in the world we are living in today. Jesus spoke to the idea of fear, saying "Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" (Jn. 14:27). We are not to be afraid. In place of fear, we are to trust the Lord and receive the peace He gives. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you" Jn. 14:27. Jesus Christ has the authority as the Son of God and the Prince of Peace to give us peace. The peace He gives is described...

On a recent Sunday during worship we play a game called Snowballs. It’s a game I have played in Confirmation to encourage people to ask their God questions. The congregation each wrote their questions on a piece of paper, wadded it up to resemble a snowball and then had a “snowball fight.” It was great fun with lots of giggles. The snowballs were collected up by Katie Leid, passed out again in their wadded-up shape. Three people read the questions they had picked out of the basket. They read the questions of others, not their own quest...

Ed Fruh of the program said purchasing the defibrillator was possible because of a $2,000 grant the program received from Puget Sound Energy Foundation. "We hope we never have to use it, but it is comforting to know we have one if needed," he said. Ed said the defibrillator will be placed in school gyms during the winter...

Though he was well into his 80s, my friend Walter Nolan would regularly (almost daily) walk the dirt road to the very top of the hill overlooking the Dayton Cemetery. There he would extend his arms around his view of Dayton, imagine he was holding it in his hands, and pray that the people in it would know the love of God by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is no wonder people who knew Walter felt him to be kind and joyful, even in difficult circumstances. Walter's prayer for Dayton...
