Josh was born in Deer Park, Wash., to John Lee Hansen and Nida Rae (Demand) Hansen on April 4, 1978, and spent his early years living in western Washington.     POMEROY–The 11th Annual Spinners Easter Egg Hunt was successfully implemented Saturday, April 16, in spite of the wintery weather conditions. Many youngsters and their families came out to enjoy the traditional Spinners Easter Egg Hunt, despite the wet and cold weather conditions of the day and experienced over the past week or so.     POMEROY–The Garfield County Hospital District Board of Commissioners (GCHD) received a $1 million grant from the United State Department of Agriculture. In other business, approved a blanket warmer purchase; a recruitment scholarship policy; and bylaw revision. The USDA grant for $1,000,000 will be used for infrastructure and moratorium upgrades, with any leftover money used for prioritized additional projects.     POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council passed Ordinance 925; received federal grant money; holding a public hearing and were advised of booster pump project cost increase at the meeting April 5. The City Council has approved Ordinance 925 which repeals ordinances 672, 675, and 680, as well as creates a new license and control ordinance for animals.     POMEROY–Logging activities are anticipated to resume on April 20 for the Upper Pataha Stewardship timber sale on the Pomeroy Ranger District. These commercial harvest activities, which are located approximately 20 miles southeast of Pomeroy, Wash., are part of ongoing implementation of the Upper Pataha Project, which was authorized through a Decision Memo in 2019.     As we move into this new spring season, we have some exciting updates to share. The Hospital District received a $1,000,000 grant from the USDA. This combines with a $250,000 grant from The Group Health Foundation and $50,000 from Empire Health/Premera for a total of $1.3 million and the remaining balance will be paid out of current cash reserves.     POMEROY–It wasn't too windy to plow as the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum (EWAM) held its Spring Farming Days on April 2 and 3. Six teams of horses and mules–also called hitches–pulled plows, harrows, and seed drills on the field at the Garfield County Fairgrounds.     POMEROY–County Engineer Grant Morgan reported the start date for the pavement sealing project on the upper Deadman at the Garfield County Commissioners meeting on April 4. The project will begin on April 25, and the County Road Crew is currently working on widening shoulders of the road in preparation.     POMEROY–Garfield County Chipper Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Garfield County will host a free chipper day for county residents to dispose of their yard waste at the old rock pit located of Gould City-Mayview Road. County residents can dispose clean yard and garden debris, pine needles, leaves, limbs and small logs (up to 15 inches) free from rocks, root balls or anything over 15 inches in diameter to the site.
