POMEROY–The fifth week of the 10-week Camas Prairie Competition started out well for Pomeroy Gun Club members as the first squad on Sunday enjoyed calm winds and nice conditions. POMEROY–The Pomeroy Pirate Girls Basketball team suffered from low-scoring second halves in two losses in the SE1B Girls District Tournament, falling 44-25 to Sunnyside Christian on Feb. 7, then being bounced from further post-season play by Liberty Christian 59-31 on Feb. 9. SPANGLE–Pirate wrestler Curtis Winona finished second in the Regional Tournament and earned a berth in the WIAA Mat Classic XXXV this Friday and Saturday in Tacoma. Winona pinned opponents from Almira-Coulee-Hartline and Kettle Falls before losing by fall to Brock Gustaveson of Davenport to finish with the silver medal and state berth. POMEROY–Six members of the Youth Basketball 2023 Ten Thousand (10,000) Shot Club, Josiah Ledgerwood, Owen Wolf, Robbie Wolf, Kanin Koller, Sidney Wolf and Carson Koller, made their quota over several months which began at the start of Summer Break in June through to the beginning of Christmas Break. POMEROY– A fairly-stiff east wind caused some erratic target flight preventing gun club shooters from breaking a perfect 25 during week four of the Camas Prairie Association competition. East winds are difficult since the Traps face that direction so shooters have the breeze right in their faces.
