Pirates cruising in first place

POMEROY–With five matches remaining in the season, the Pomeroy Lady Pirates are in first place with a 7-0 record in 1B Southeast District play as they head to the next two matches against sixth-place Garfield-Palouse and fourth-place St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse.

The team hosted Gar-Pal at home Tuesday of this week and tonight visits SJEL at St. John for a 6 p.m. match.

Trailing the Lady Pirates is Oakesdale in second place with a 7-1 record and Colton in third with a 5-3 record.

Touchet and St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse are tied for fourth with 3-5 records and Garfield-Palouse is sixth with a 3-6 mark. Prescott is winless at 0-8.

Pomeroy is 16-2 overall.

At Touchet October 10, the Lady Pirates cruised to a three-set win holding off the Lady Indians 25-17, 15-14 and 15-17.

Orofino visited Pomeroy on Tuesday, October 8, and were sent home with a three-set non-conference loss, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-12. Orofino gave the Lady Bucs a challenge in the middle set, but fell short.
