SPOKANE VALLEY–Pirate harrier Evan Bartels and the Pomeroy Cross Country Team are competing in regional meets as the season winds down and the district meet approaches.
Pomeroy’s Bartels, a senior, finished 34th in the field of 62 runners at the District 7/9 South Meet Tuesday, October 8, at Plantes Ferry Park. Eighth graders Cash Copher and Aidan Knuteson finished 52nd and 54th, respectively, and Samuel Lamb, a freshman, was 56th. Copher’s time was 24:21; Knuteson’s 25:38 and Lamb 26:32.
Bartels was Pomeroy’s sole entrant in the Inland Empire Challenge, Saturday, October 5, at Lewiston Orchards. His time of 20:54 put him 90th in the field of 96 and 19 teams.
The team competes today, October 17, at the Kyle Burnside Wildhorse Invite, Wildhorse Golf Course, Pendleton, Ore., and coming up is the District 9 1B Cross Country Championship, Friday, October 25, Colfax Golf Club, Colfax.
