Bartels third at District 9 XC finals

COLFAX–Three Pirate Cross Country team members advanced to the 1B/2B District 7 & 9 Regional meet, set for Saturday, November 2, in Chewelah, Wash., and they’ll compete for one of the berths to the State Cross Country Meet at Pasco’s Sun Willows Golf Course on November 8 and 9.

Qualifying for the regional meet were senior harrier Evan Bartels, freshman Samuel Lamb, and eighth grader Aidan Knuteson.

Bartels finished in the money in third with a time of 20:16, behind Garfield-Palouse junior Ethan Cook (19:47) and top finisher Logan Marconi, a freshman from St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse, in 19:29.

Pirate cross country members Samuel Lamb and Aiden Knuteson finished eleventh and twelfth in the field of 14 at Colfax. Lamb’s time was 24:24 and Knuteson wasn’t far behind at 24:58.

To qualify for state will be the top five teams and top 25 runners.

The 5K, District 9 meet was held Friday, October 25 at the Colfax Golf Club.
