Hospital Update

Garfield County Hospital District would like to express our gratitude to all the community, Board and staff, who helped provide presents for our patients by re-writing our version of this famous poem by Clement C. Moore.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all ‘round the floor

Not a patient was stirring, nor the sound of a snore

The IVs were hung on their poles with care

In hopes they’d be changed out with them unaware

The patients were nestled all snug in the beds

While visions of chocolates danced in their heads

As the CNAs were tending to the patients with care

I started my night shift with meds to prepare

When out in the foyer there arose such a clatter

I sprang from by chair to see what was the matter

Away from the desk I ran down the hall

And stopped at a Christmas tree 7 feet tall

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

But a gentleman with presents and a smile so sincere

He said, “I am here to deliver these gifts

To all the patients on this snowy night shift.

In response to requests for the Secret Santa Tree

And I am here to help out Santa you see.”

Each patient made a wish list from their heart

And the staff, Board and townsfolk have all done their part

So I am here to make sure they all receive

The gifts they deserve and to help them believe.

They are loved and cherished not just during this season

But all year long and for very good reason.

The staff, Board and community really do care

It’s apparent to me by the way they all share.

Out of kindness through talents and time they do lend

And all gave so generously from their own cash to spend

To make sure these patients have a special Christmas Day

Is a mighty big outpouring of love I must say!

It has been lovely to visit and see you my dear

But I must be going as your shift’s end draws near.”

As I looked at the tree and the presents that were left

I felt very grateful and knew we’d been blessed.

I turned to say “Thank you” to this sweet gentle man

But quick as a flash out the front door he ran

I heard him exclaim as he walked out of sight

Merry Christmas! God Bless! And to all a good night!

We appreciate who gave to the Senior Secret Santa Tree this year. Your generosity and kindness to our patients was overwhelming. Have a Blessed Christmas season everyone!
