WALLA WALLA–The Garfield County Health Foundation Fund of the Blue Mountain Community Foundation invites applications for grants to improve the health of residents of Pomeroy and Garfield County. Health care, prevention of diseases, recreation, nutrition, mental health including social support, the health of specific groups of people such as children and youth, senior citizens or the general population, are among the eligible programs. A total grant budget of $18,000 is available in 2020.
The application consists of a letter outlining the purpose of the grant, a brief history and summary of the applicant organization’s accomplishments, a copy of the organization’s letter of tax exemption from the IRS and a budget outlining how the funds will be used.
Applications from public or government agencies will be considered, as will faith-based organizations if the services or benefits are available to people without regard to religious affiliation. The application should be signed by the head of the organization, public agency or faith-based group.
Applications may be submitted by email to [email protected] or mailed to Blue Mountain Community Foundation, P.O. Box 603, Walla Walla, WA 99362. The deadline is Friday, February 28, 2020.
An eight–person Advisory Committee of community leaders make the final recommendations for grants, and will be reviewing complete proposals. Grant decisions are expected by the end of March 2020.
The Garfield County Health Foundation Fund was created in 2011. Since then it has supported equipment needed by the local hospital and fire/ambulance services. Donations to the Fund are welcome and will be restricted to improve the well-being of the people of Pomeroy and Garfield County.
