Hospital Update

We are encouraged your interest in Garfield County Hospital District. This is week third of addressing common questions and concerns about the Hospital District.

In the first two editions, we discussed moving the clinic to the hospital and issues with provider turnover. If you missed either of these articles, they can be found on East Washingtonian website, the hospital website, or the hospital Facebook page. This week we will be discussing billing.

This is probably the most commonly cited issue about the Hospital District. If you have had an issue with a bill from the Hospital District in the past, we apologize. We would also invite you to give us a second chance.

The District transitioned to a new electronic health records (EHR) system in September of 2019. This allowed us to move more of the billing process in-house granting us greater control. There were some issues initially after the implementation of our new EHR system which is completely normal. Our billing staff worked diligently to resolve all of these issues and are happy to say that our bills have been going out without issue. As part of this new system, patients have been happy to see new itemized bills to help them better understand their charges. This is not to say that the process is completely flawless.

There are several reasons that a bill could be delayed and most frequently it is on the insurance company's end. We have great staff in our Billing Department that work hard to get every claim pushed through as quickly as possible. If you have any problems or questions with a bill, please come in and talk to one of ladies in billing. They will be happy to assist you in any way they can.

We hope this clears up any questions and concerns about billing from the Hospital District. We continue to work on improving in every way we can. Again, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Again, your continued support of Garfield County Hospital District is appreciated!
