A Teen's Take

POMEROY–I dislike the pressure we teens put on ourselves to be perfect; especially in one area. I personally don’t put a lot of effort into this specific topic because we’re all friends. Kids in my peer group really struggle, especially when it comes to talking to boys. Yeah, sometimes you say things that make you kick yourself, but generally it’s not that bad. It does stink though, when you find someone you like, and no matter what you say or do, you keep embarrassing yourself. I think all of us have been there a time or two.

I have a friend who is amazing and one of my best friends, but stresses a lot about pretty much everything and honestly, I don’t know how to tell her she doesn’t have to worry about it. If only she could just see herself through my eyes and others too.

Frankly, I think there are more important things to worry about than how others preserve me, like grades, my relationship with my family, or what I am going to do during spring break. But I do get that it is hard for some kids to believe in their value.

It is important to make your high school years fun and memorable because it only happens once. Obsessing about how others see you doesn’t have to be part of it. Doing things with your friends like staying up late watching movies and talking about boys. Learning how to balance homework and social life, even though we are still a bit irresponsible yet. After all, we are teenagers. We should live life, make happy memories with the friends we have today and don’t sweat the little stuff like if we are perfect or not, because it will al change tomorrow.

I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather and taking advantage of it, because like life, it too will change. And congratulations to the Pomeroy Girls Basketball team for taking one of the three final tournament wins. You rock!
