POMEROY–Making decisions is hard, especially when you are young and inexperienced. That is where I am today. I am faced with deciding whether to take online school or if I want to attend in-person classes like I would any other new school year. It comes down to my dedication to sticking with a schedule, getting my work completed on time on my own and not seeing my friends or if it is more helpful to have interaction with teachers and peers in-person. It seems I would get the same education either way, or would I?
The upside to online classes is I can take a job and make money, but it would lack the social component of school. A couple of my best friends are already doing online, so it would be weird to go to school every day without them. I am a fairly social person and I don’t really know how I would handle doing everything over a computer screen.
The downside to going to school in-person, besides the requirements to even be there, would mean having different people in class, instead of my usual friends who I have had in each of my classes year-after-year. That makes me kind of uncomfortable. But, taking in-person school would allow me to see everyone at some time during the day and participate in the daily activities only you can get in school.
As I am working through this dilemma, online school is looking like my best option, logically. I would be getting the same education as everyone else while still making money and I could see my friends in my free time. I honestly don’t know what my hold up is on making this decision, I guess it’s just that I’ve always got myself up early in the morning, dressed, grabbed something to eat and went out the door to school. Whatever I decide, it will be a strange year.
I hope everyone tolerated the heat this last week while getting to enjoy these last few weeks of summer vacation.
