EWAM considering new acquisitions

POMEROY–The Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum is working on acquisitions.

Marvin Gortsema has a listing of available items from a local collection. Wayne Davis has a line on an older, wooden-frame grain drill, and James Payne offered an apple/grape press, but was declined since the museum has one.

Also, items from the Bill Lauby farm in Nez Perce, Id., are presently being considered. The Farmall tractor trade with Everet Martin is still in the process. Gary C. has a potential home for the '52 Ford truck of Kendrick High School FFA group.

Krey Miller had the doodlebug running, then it quit, but he will get it going again. Jay Franks will bring wood glue. He will also restore the ankle, a six-week procedure, during the Christmas break. David Ruark is working on the shingle mill and cast-iron welding.

Maintenance and upkeep of area grounds was handled by Gary who sprayed the weeds in the hay field, Dave Waldron who mowed the field camping area while Jay and Dave moved the EWAM items from beef barns.

During the COVID restriction, the EWAM has experienced an immense slowdown of visitors, with an occasional request for a tour. Recently, Krey toured a couple from the Salt Lake area, Joe Huyette's grandson and some of his own family members.

Membership has come to a standstill, but have gotten a small donation. There has also been renewed interest in a potential third building.

Transcipt submitted by David Ruark for Secretary Jay Franks
