Mrs. Waldher's Kindergarten Class at Pomeroy Elementary School recently put their creative minds to some inventive ways to cook an entreé for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday meal. Bon appétit!
Kylie's BBQ Turkey
Kylie Lovgren: Age 6
Ingredients
7lb Turkey
5 Gallons of Baking Soda
7 Inches of Salt
3 Cups Pepper
Directions
Take the turkey out of the bag. Cut the bones out. First you put the ingredients on, then put it on a plate. Set the oven for 4 degrees and cook the turkey for four minutes. Take out the turkey, cut it up with a big knife. You can put in a stick and eat it off the stick.
Gabe's Mashed Potatoes
Gabe Scoggin: Age 5
Ingredients
2 brown potatoes
1 bottle of Ranch
Little bit of white and yellow cheese
Directions
Cut the peel off of the potatoes with a knife, then cut the potatoes up into 6 pieces. Put the potatoes in a glass dish. Set the oven to maybe 60 degrees. Put in the dish in for 12 hours. Take it out and cut the potatoes in half. Then put ranch and cheese on it. 7 people will eat this.
Aurora's Pepperoni Pizza
Aurora DesJardin-Vasquez: Age 6
Ingredients
1 Circle Bread
A middle size of a circle red sauce
5 slices of pepperoni
6 Cups of orange and white cheese.
Directions
Put the bread out and the flour and just roll it. You will put the sauce on, the pepperoni on and then the cheese. You will put it in the oven at 11 degrees and cook it for 3 minutes. Cut it up when it is done and eat it with a fork or your hands.
Hud's Chicken
Hud Klaveano: Age 5
Ingredients
7lbs of chicken
6 pieces of celery
2 Cups salt
7 scoops of pepper
Directions
Get the chicken out of the bag and you put it in a bowl. Stir it, stir it, stir it. Put the celery in the bowl and then the salt and pepper. Stir it really fast. Put it in the freezer for 5 minutes. Then cook it in the oven for 6 minutes at 6 degrees. Take it out and eat it. Put more salt on it and then you eat it and it tastes great.
Hadley's Vegetable Soup
Hadley Hames: Age 6
Ingredients
2 Orange Peppers
2 Yellow Peppers
8 Slices of Carrots
10 Broccoli Slices
10 Potatoes
1Tbsp Sugar
1Tbsp Salt
10 Tsp Water
1 C. Milk
1 tiny smidge of flour and vanilla extract
Directions
Slice up all the vegetables. Next, we will put them in a bowl. We will put the dry ingredients in and then add the water and the milk. Then put in the vanilla extract. Put it all into the pot and stir it with a spatula. Set the stove to 45 and cook it for 6 minutes. When it is done, put it in a big bowl and then serve it. It will be given to 18 people, everyone in my whole family.
Francis's Macaroni and Cheese
Francis Burke: Age 6
Ingredients
11 noodles
3 pieces of yellow cheese
1 gallon of milk
1 new butter
Directions
Pour the noodles into a pot. Mix it up. The water is hot because I cook it on the stove. Pour in the milk and cheese. Stir it for 20 minutes. It will smell like macaroni and cheese when it is done. That's how you know it's done.
Rylan's Pumpkin Pie
Rylan Berglund: Age 6
Ingredients
1 pumpkin
1 Cup of sugar
1 piece of butter
Crust
Directions
Cut up the pumpkin with a knife and scoop it out where you are baking it. Pour and measure out the sugar. Put into the bowl then you add the crust. Put the pie in the oven for two minutes. Set the oven for 47 degrees. When it is done you take something that is safe to get it out with and pull it out. It will need to cool off. When it is cooled off you eat it.
Josh's Turkey

Ingredients
10lb turkey
A whole gallon of seasonings
Directions
Cut the skin up a little bit with a big knife. After you cut it all up put on the seasoning salt, just pour it. Now you will cut it into pieces because you cut the skin off now cut the pieces. Put everything in a bowl and put a lid on it. The oven is at 6. Put the turkey in for 10 days. Check on it and touch it a little bit so you know it is done. When it is done, put a little bit more seasoning on it and then eat it with a fork.
Lily's Sketti

A whole bag of noodles
Meat sauce. I don't know, maybe three pouches to see what it tastes like first

18 Onions
Directions
First get a pot out. Then fill your lid with hot water. That's always how you make noodles. Then add the whole bag of noodles. And then you stir it up with a wooden spoon. You are done when the noodles are soft and not crunchy. Cut up the mushrooms and onions. Usually my mom cuts up the onions. Take the can opener and open the sauce and pour it in. Stir them up. Keep stirring til it gets nice and fresh and the steam comes out. That means it's ready. We will need to make 2 batches.
Blake's Chocolate Chip Cookies
Blake Lindgren: Age 6
Ingredients
1 dip of salt
6 Cups Flour
2 Sugars
6 Chocolate Chips
10 Eggs
Directions
First we just roll out the sugar and then it turns into a circle. Add the flour and chocolate chips into a bowl. Crack the eggs onto the side of the bowl. You crack them in the middle. You want the shells in there. Stir it all with a spoon. Dump it in a pot and then you cook it in the oven. Set the oven for 1000 degrees, that is super hot. Cook them for ten hours. Then open the oven up and see if it's done. If it's done you can add something to it, like yummy pickles. I don't like pickles, I like broccoli. Then you just eat it.
Justin's Really Good Turkey
Justin Hastings: Age 5
Ingredients
1 Cup Flour
2 Cups Sugar
900lb Turkey
9lbs of Ketchup
Turkey Flavoring
Color Changing Flavoring
Directions
Put the flour in the turkey and then put the sugar in. Cut the turkey. Then put the rest in. Then add five more flavorings, that will make it taste good. There will be carrots and grapes too. Then put it in a pan and roast it for 110 minutes. Set the oven for 140 degrees, that's really hot. Once it comes out, cut it up more and then put a couple more things of flavoring in. A couple is one, you need to know that. Put in the food flavoring and color flavoring. Then that's it!
Cashup's Rolls
Cashup Klaveano: Age 6
Ingredients
8 Cups flour
3 Cups milk
2 eggs
Directions
Get a big bowl and then you put the ingredients in while the bowl is stirring. When it's done put it in another bowl and then you let it rise for 9 minutes. Cook it at 8 degrees for ten minutes. Cut it and put butter on it. Then you serve it but you serve it with that triangle thing and you scoop it under. Put it on some plastic plates and serve it. This will make about 12 rolls.
Kasen's Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
A lot of chocolate
A lot of flour
A lot of sugar
2 eggs
Directions
Put the chocolate in a bowl. Put the sugar in. Stir it slow. Drop the eggs in and stir it slow. Set the oven for ten degrees. Cook the cake for 20 hours. Take it out and hold it. Then put it in the fridge, it makes it cold. Eat it in the kitchen.
Charlee's Monster Brownies
Charlee Stallcop: Age 5
Ingredients
10 M&M's
2 Chocolate Bags
A bunch of oatmeal
2 cups sugar
2 Eggs
Directions
First you put the chocolate bags in a bowl and then you put in the eggs and mix it. You put it in one of those bowls with the spinner. It will spin by itself. You will put in the M&M's and oatmeal while it is spinning. Put it all in a pan and put it in the oven for 8 hours. The oven needs to be 10 degrees. Once it is done you take it out and put it on a piece of plate and eat it.
Sage's Chicken Noodle Soup
Sage Harker: Age 5
Ingredients
4 regular noodles
5 pieces of chicken
3 inches of water
2 garlics
1 tsp salt
1tsp pepper
Directions
Get the noodles and put them in the boil. Boil them for like two minutes. Cut the chicken up into little squares and put them in the bowl. Stir it all together. Put the noodles and chicken into the pot with the water. Cook it on the stove for 3 hours. After it is done boiling check on it then add the salt and pepper. Pour it into bowls and then serve it.
Emilee's Turkey

Ingredients
5lb Turkey
Sauce to put on it like ketchup, but it doesn't have potatoes on it
A whole little spoon of salt
A tinier spoon of pepper, and half of that spoon
Directions
Take out the bones with knives. We usually cut it until we see the bones. Give the bones to the dogs. Put the salt and pepper on after the bones. Set the oven for 5 degrees and put the turkey in. Leave it in the oven for 5 minutes. Nana cuts the turkey. She will bring it to the table and then we eat it. After you are done, you can watch a movie.
Hudson's BBQ Ribs

Ingredients
4 Ribs
14 Cups of BBQ sauce for each rib
Vanilla Ice Cream
Directions
Put the ribs on the grill. We normally set ours to 40 degrees. Put them on there for 13 minutes. Check them 14 times. Take them out and squeeze the sauce onto them. Eat them outside and use your hands, that is fun! You will eat the ice cream with spoons for dessert.
Nick's Turkey

Ingredients
30 hundred pound Turkey. My dad shot it.
Salt. Use a lot of it.
Directions
First you just cut off the turkey's head. Pull the feathers off before you cook it. My dad will have to cut the guts out with a knife. Then put the turkey in the oven. When you cook it the oven is really hot. When we don't cook it, it's not hot. The temperature will be 80 degrees in the oven and you will cook it for 81 minutes. Take it out and don't eat the meat inside, just eat the meat on the outside. It is also good with pickles.
Maverick's Carrot Casserole
Maverick Stroisch: Age 5
Ingredients
5 carrots
5 drops of salt
5 broccoli
5 cups of milk
5 shakes of pepper
Directions
First we cut up the carrots in the Instant Pot, put in the salt. Chop up the broccoli and put it in the pot. Pour the milk in slow so it doesn't overflow. Put the pepper in the pot too and stir it slow. Set the pot for 5 minutes. When it is done, pour it into a bowl and then we eat it!
