GARFIELD COUNTY–The State, Governor Jay Inslee, approved the East Region, to move to Phase 2 of the Washington State Road Map to Recovery February 12, 2021, which includes the Pomeroy area.
The move into this new phase will begin Monday, February 15 and last for two weeks when the region's metrics will be reassessed. According to Garfield County Health District Administrator Martha Lanman, if the region doesn't continue to improve or hold the required subset numbers, the region will return to Phase 1.
In Phase 2, Cross Country, Volleyball and Football games will be allowed per WIAA regulations, but tournaments are still NOT allowed. The Pomeroy School District has made a game and meet schedule for cross country, volleyball, and football. Details on community participation in and at games is still being formulated at the district level.
Even with the broader liberties to conduct business, it is important to be diligent by mask wearing and social distancing. If you qualify to get the COVID-19 vaccine please call the Garfield County Health District at 509.843-3412 to get on the list to get your appointment to be vaccinated. Phase 2 Guidelines are 1) Social and at-home gatherings indoors are now allowed with a maximum of five people from outside the household and limit to two households. Outdoors interaction is the has a maximum of 15 people from outside the household with a limit of two households. 2) Indoor dining is now allowed at 25% capacity, closing at 11 p.m. 3) Sporting events are allowed per WIAA regulations. 4) Fitness centers can now have 25% capacity. 5) Indoor entertainment establishments can operate at 25% capacity and outdoor can have groups of 15 people with a limit of two households and a maximum of 200 including spectators.
