Cold and snow accompany weekend shoot

POMEROY–Elements of weather once again hampered Pomeroy Gun Club members in week six of the Camas Prairie Trap Shooting competition. This time it was extreme cold and falling snow that was the culprit.

Braedon Fruh led Juniors with a 22 in singles and the 21 shot by Troy Steele. Caleb Barron and Carson Zimmerman led the Junior Handicap with 21s.

Adult members on Sunday faced single digit Temperatures at the start of the day but Terry John stood up to the challenge posting the only perfect 25 of the weekend in singles. Justin Dixon missed only one carding a 24 while Mason Blachly, Wayne Tetrick, and Bryan McKeirnan posted 23s. In Handicap Travis Ledgerwood had the day's best score with a 23 and Brian Bingman and Beau Blachly had 22s.

Buck Geiger posted the high score of the day, and the year, in Doubles with a 48 under very difficult conditions. The next best score was Justin Dixon's 40.

After five weeks of the 10–week competition the Pomeroy Juniors remained in 8th place and the Adult Club slipped a couple of notches to 20th in the 24 Club field.

Shooting will resume this Saturday, February 20, for Juniors and Sunday, February 21, for the Adult Club. Colton Gun Club will be hosting a 300-target registered shoot also on Saturday with 100 singles, 100 Handicap, and 50 pairs of Doubles. Shooting will begin at 9 a.m.
