Weather finally good, scores not so hot

POMEROY–Weather was much improved for the eighth week of the Camas Prairie 10 week shoot but scores among shooters did not improve as much as Pomeroy Gun Club members would have liked.

Junior shooters again shot most of their scores on Saturday and in the 12-year-old and younger category Byron Collier led the Youngsters with a nice score of 22 in the singles competition and Braxton McKeirnan shot an 18. In Handicap Collier put up a 20 and McKeirnan posted a 17.

Sub Juniors Gunner Magill and Nick Hastings both shot 23s to lead that division in singles and Oliver Severs posted a near perfect 24 in Handicap.

In the Junior division Caleb Barron had a 23 in singles and Troy Steele and Logan Ledgerwood posted 22s. Junior Magill had a 22 in Handicap and Tyson Kimble managed a 20.

On Sunday Wayne Tetrick became the first Adult shooter to post a second 25 in the singles event while Jeff Hannas Terry John and Jay Hanger missed just one Target for 24s. Robert Des Jardin, Lee Blachly, Mitch McGreevy, Lee Koller and Tristen Streby all had 23s for the day.

Travis Ledgerwood became the first shooter to post a perfect 25 in Handicap for the season while Bryan McKeirnan missed only one target for a 24. Tristen Streby and Buck Geiger had 23s.

Terry John shot a perfect 25 in Continentals while Larry Bunch and Travis Ledgerwood posted 24s.

Buck Geiger led the Doubles with a 47 and Larry Bunch managed a 46 for the week.

Week nine competition will be held this Saturday March 6–7 and week 10 will culminate on the weekend of March 13–14. The following weekend many shooters will compete in the Camas Praire Registered shoot at the Walla Wall Gun Club. The three-day event will run March 19–21.

After seven weeks of the competition, the Pomeroy Junior shooters remained in eighth place in the 24 Club field while the adults remained in twentieth position.
