POMEROY–The Garfield County Fire Department’s (GCFD) new ambulance is in service, Fire Chief James Cleveland reported at the GCFD’s monthly commissioner’s meeting on May 11. It is currently being used to answer 911 calls and for patient transfers.
In other GCFD business the layout of Fire Engines 10 and 11 are being changed to be as similar to each other as possible. Also discussed at the meeting was two agreements with the United States Forest Service.
The contracts allow the ability to share mutual assets such as cooperation and collaboration between the crews and the use of each district’s radio during collaboration.
A final audit for the GCFD has been completed and returned with minimal changes advised, a positive outcome.
District secretary Deedee Weymouth reiterated the request for volunteers to place flags on veterans’ graves for Memorial Day on May 29.
