POMEROY–Citing the increasing tendency of campers to overstay their time limits, Garfield County Port Commissioners Ed Crawford, Larry Scoggin, and Matt Herres voted to remove the monthly rate for Pataha Creek RV Park at their meeting on May 18. The park will only have daily and weekly rates with a maximum of four weeks available, beginning July 15. The commissioners hope the rate change will discourage people from attempting long-term stays.
The Port of Garfield County will apply for a broadband grant through the Washington State Department of Commerce to extend fiber to Pataha and to fix coverage gaps in Pomeroy. The Port will match 20% of the funds, up to $140,000.
The process to replace window blinds and tile in the United States Forest Service (USFS) building will begin in June. The General Service Agency, which controls government leasing, walked through and made some requirements for minor changes. Overall they were content with the state of the building.
Flynn’s Electric replaced the lights in the USFS parking lot with LED bulbs that will last longer and are environmentally friendly.
