$108,924 in grants awarded to nonprofits in Columbia, Garfield and Asotin counties

WALLA WALLA–In collaboration with the Greater Columbia Accountable Community of Health, Blue Mountain Community Foundation announces 14 awards totaling $108,924.15 in support of proposals to improve the health of residents of Columbia, Garfield and Asotin counties. Proposals were required to address one of the following social determinants of health: Overweight Youth; Youth Immunization; Substance Abuse–Youth Drinking; Bullying; or Access to Healthcare. A complete list of awards by county:

Asotin County:

• Interlink, Inc. received $10,000.00 for no-cost curb-to-curb transportation for medical appointments;

• Quality Behavioral Health received $10,000.00 for Clarkston EPIC Community Coalition - addressing teen alcohol abuse;

Columbia County

• Blue Mountain Counseling received $2,424.15 for the Be A Buddy Not A Bully bench program;

• Columbia County Public Health received $7,500.00 for health insurance access and enrollment;

• Community Food Bank of Dayton received $3,000.00 for healthy summer food options;

• The Club received $12,500.00 for social and emotional support for area youth;

Garfield County

• City of Pomeroy received $10,000.00 for the Building Community Health Through Play program;

Garfield County Aging & Disability Resource Center received $7,500.00 for insurance navigation services;

Garfield County Aging & Disability Resource Center received $5,000.00 for foot care for the aging population;

Garfield County Food Bank received $10,000.00 for access to fresh fruit and vegetables

Garfield County Health District received $10,000.00 for integrating farm to school efforts and scratch-made nutrition;

Garfield County Health District received $5,000.00 for dental education and community outreach;

• Holy Rosary Foundation received $6,000.00 for the Weekend Food Backpack Program;

• Quality Behavioral Health received $10,000.00 for the Pomeroy Partners for Healthy Families Community Coalition addressing substance abuse and youth alcohol use.
