The Middle School Girls Basketball team lost to Colton on September 30 by a score of 57-17.
"The girls were given three words to think about before the games," said Head Coach Jennifer Maves. "Tenacity, Passion, and Confidence. They were asked to play with all three as a goal this game.
"We knew coming in that it was going to be a very tough game," Maves noted. "Colton has a player that pretty much dominated the court and scored most of their points (39). Despite being frustrated, they never once gave up and kept working hard they entire game."
Maves said the coaching staff is proud of both teams and how the players continue to show improvement each day.
Scoring in the Colton game was Kendyll Potoshnik 5, Grace Hart 4, Carmen Fruh 3, Olivia Cooper 2. Players included Sadie Klaveano, Carolina Morfin, Caroline McKeirnan and Reagan McKeirnan.
Pomeroy's B team played All Saints school at Colton while the A team played Colton. This was due to Colton only having enough players to make one team.
Pomeroy B team lost 26-4 and scoring players were Holly Van Vogt 2 and Carolina Morfin 2 (2 quarters).
Others playing in the game were Heather Hastings, Ariah Bingman, Kylee Wegrzyn, Reagan McKeirnan, Bethany Zimmermann and Sadie Klaveano.
The B Squad's game against All Saints School at Colton was the first time Pomeroy had played a team that could shoot from the outside. All Saints had multiple players who could shoot not only outside shots but three pointers.
"I was very proud of how the girls did not give up," commented Coach Maves. "Despite it being a lopsided score, they battled until the end. It definitely gave us things to work on for future games."
