OBITUARY

Barbara Jeanette Bartels

February 25, 1935–October 6, 2021

Barbara Jeanette Bartels was born February 25, 1935, dying peacefully Oct. 6, 2021 of a stroke, surrounded by family.

A lifelong Pomeroy resident, Barbara married Darrel Bartels. After raising three children, she enjoyed a long career as a third-generation rural mail carrier, intrepidly descending the Blind Grad and ascending the Marengo in blistering heat or white-out snow storm. "The mail must go through!"

Barb enjoyed family, needlework, gardening and genealogy. Possessing an intelligent, creative mind, she was a joy to know.

Left behind are son Allen (Wendy Snyder) Bartels; daughters Cindi Herres and Julie (Greg) Scott, ten grandchildren and eleven greats.

Preceding Barbara in death were her husband of 53 years, Darrel; parents Elmor and Elma Trescott; sisters Vivian Trescott and Elaine Anderson; and infant son, Darren Lee.

Graveside was held October 16.
