POMEROY–Local high school senior Braedyn White qualified for the Ote Berry Junior Steer Wrestling World Championship (OBJSWWC) in Las Vegas, Nev., this coming December 7–11.
White not only tears it up on the football field and wrestling mat, but also as a cowboy in the rodeo arena. He takes his place as a participant at the OBJSWWC steer wrestling competition, scheduled in December at the Wrangler Rodeo Arena in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, after accumulating enough points over the year at selected competitions of the 30 events across the United States to qualify.
"Braedyn participated two qualifiers when he attended the National High School Rodeo Finals in Nebraska earlier this year and earned enough points after his great showing to stamp his ticket to Las Vegas," said parents Fred and Kelly White.
The top 45 junior steer wrestlers come from 17 states, with the majority of qualifying contestants from Texas and Oklahoma with a scattering of other representative states which include Washington, Illinois and as far away as Hawaii.
White "finished the year in the 25th place of the Junior Steer Wrestling World," said his parents.
