Health District receives $736k in grant funds

POMEROY–The Garfield County Health District has received two large grants, administrator Martha Lanman announced at their meeting on November 22. A grant from South East Washington Alliance for Health in the amount of $370,000 is designated for Covid-19 vaccine use, as well as other pandemic related funding gaps. A grant from the Foundation of Public Health Services totals $366,000. $183,000 has been received by the Health District, while the other half will be turned over in June of 2022. Unused funds will be returned to the providers, and Administrator Lanman does not foresee using all of the funds.

The Health District board of directors approved two resolutions that renew contracts. Resolution 2021–30 renewed a contract with the Department of Health with an increase of funding to $1,975,961. The contract was originally two years in length, and was extended to three to include 2021. January of 2022 will see the renewed contract begin.

Resolution 2021-32 continued the care coordination contract with Providence Health Services from July of 2021 until July of 2022. This contract is on a July-July timing.
