Port receives 3.8 million dollar grant for fiber

POMEROY–The Port of Garfield County commissioners announced that they have been awarded a Federal Public Works grant at their meeting on December 7. The grant is for $3,800,000 with no match required from the Port, and will be used for the Northeast Garfield County fiber project. The contract will begin after the first of the year, and the project is anticipated to last into 2023.

The Pataha fiber project design contract with Zero DB has been signed and the work is beginning. There will be more underground lines than were planned in Pomeroy because of the agriculture in the area. The design will also cover problem areas in Pomeroy.
