The 2022 Jr. Hi. Wrestlers had an amazing start on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Jenifer Middle School in Lewiston, Idaho. The teams that attended along with Pomeroy were: Jenifer, Pullman, Orofino, Clear Water Valley, Grangeville, and Asotin. Kole Zimmerman wasted no time and got Pomeroy off to a fast start with a quick fall of Maximus Gernert. Kyzer Herres followed with a ‘tilt clinic’ 16-0 rout of Conner George. Gunner Magill absolutely tossed Bridger Bauer for a pin. Levi Bowen out muscled Jackson Grossman for a first round pin. Peyton Cannon meticulously pinned Bradley Waits in the second round. Pomeroy wrestlers went undefeated in the first round, which is very impressive since these boys have not wrestled in two years! Sixth grader James Blachly ran into a couple of tough upperclassmen in the second and third rounds of the night. I am super proud of him for not giving up! These boys have worked extremely hard for the last three weeks and with all of the COVID protocols we have put these athletes through I was very proud of the outcome for them.
