City Council modifies Complete Streets plan and hears requests

POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council discussed land use, the Complete Streets program, and water charges relief at their meeting on February 8.

According to the City Council minutes by City Clerk Shaun Martin, Dori and Shelby Matheny presented their request for use of a part of 17th Street that curls behind their home. They told the Council they wanted to gravel it and use it for parking and access to their backyard. The Council discussed granting a conditional use permit with a clause that would end the use if the street was needed for development in the area. The Council will research the necessary action for such a permit.

The Complete Streets plan has been modified from lighting poles on Main Street and fixing the drainage at the Pomeroy Jr/Sr High School to include sidewalk and ramp repair. An invoice from Keller Associates, employed for the project, in the amount of $1,246 was presented.

Alice Gwinn presented her request for relief from water overage charges. She suffered a water leak that has been repaired. Her request was granted per the Council’s policy of relieving half of the charges when the issue has been resolved. The amount relieved was $153.17.

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for February 22, 2022 at 1 p.m.
