POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) approved payment to City of Pomeroy, and reviewed the Fairgrounds sprinkler design at their meeting on February 14.
The BOCC approved to give a sum up to $3,000 to the City to assist with a Low to Moderate Income survey that was completed. The bill for the survey was lower than the quote, and after discussion with the City Council, the BOCC approved payment of $1,000.
The design for a new sprinkler system at the Garfield County Fairgrounds includes battery operated timers and 12 inch trenches. An electrical upgrade to the Dick Brown Building will be done as part of the same project and use the same trenches. The labor for the sprinkler installing and the trenching will come from the County Road Crew, and the electrical installation will be hired out. The county has received a State Fair Improvement Grant for approximately $81,000 with matching funds of the same value from the county. The county’s part can be provided in the form of labor.
County Engineer Grant Morgan announced FEMA has paid $14,000 of the reimbursement funds for road repair during the winter of 2019-2020. There is still $200,000 of promised reimbursement that has not yet been paid to Garfield County.
