The Pomeroy Jr. Hi. Wrestling team traveled to Clarkston last week where we met up with Asotin, Tekoa/Rosalia and Clarkston.
Gunner Magill continued his undefeated season (15-0) with two wins. Kyzer Herres and Levi Bowen also won both of their matches. Rory McKeirnan, Michealle DeBord, and Michael DeBord went 1-1.
Rory McKeirnan continues to have these barn-burner. On-point matches that are very exciting. Kole Zimmerman had two very tight matches which could have gone either way. Marcus Parks is improving every single practice and match.
Several of these wrestlers are on the cusp of breaking some Jr. Hi. Wrestling records, and yes, it is very exciting.
“I have told athletes here in Pomeroy for over three decades that records are there to be broken!” said Coach Fred Knebel. “These kids are super hungry to have their names on the wrestling deck boards and we are ready to re-paint some new names with new records!”
The team has two outings left, one at Potlatch and the other is the year-end Bi-State Wrestling Championships that will be held in the New Lewiston High School.

Nick Herres coached the team in Potlatch while Coach Knebel had duty at the Regional tournament in Warden.
Peyton Cannon, injured the week before, underwent surgery to fix his collar bone with a plate and screws. The surgery was successful and Coach Knebel expects a full recovery.
On February 9, the wrestling team traveled to Clarkston where the team went 14-4. Rory McKeirnan, a sixth grader in his first season of wrestling, won three barnburner matches.
Rory McKeirnan, Michealle DeBord, Levi Bowen, and Gunner Magill all went unbeaten.
“These kids do not miss practice and they are diligent regarding drilling each other and working on their technique,” Knebel said.
