David F. Feider

January 17, 1942-September 4, 2021

The family of David Francis Feider of Renton, Wash., is saddened to announce his passing in the early hours of Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the age of 79 years.

Dave was the second son born to Agnes and Paul in Pomeroy, Wash. on January 17, 1942. He spent his childhood years there attending Holy Rosary School and graduating from Pomeroy High School where he played basketball several years. While growing up in eastern Washington, Dave delivered newspapers for the Walla Walla Union Bulletin and Spokesman Review, as well as served as an altar boy at Holy Rosary Church.

He was an inveterate tinkerer and fixer and learned to temper steel and anneal brass which supported a hand ammunition loading hobby. As a young adult, Dave liked to be in the countryside and plink with ammo he had loaded. He worked from a young age and was generous with his time. Back in the days in Pomeroy, he was a flagger for a crop duster company before GPS; he simply stood with his flag and waited for the airplane to make each pass.

After high school he attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. There he met Karen Boyd and they were married in 1963. He graduated with his degree in Chemical Engineering in 1965. Shortly after graduation, David took a job at Boeing in Seattle, where he worked for 43 years and retired from Boeing in 2008. He was well known and much appreciated for his assistance to the production shops in his assigned area. He also held seven patents associated with this support work at Boeing.

Dave enjoyed gardening and would pickle many of the vegetables he grew. He was a great sauerkraut maker and pickler. He was a very generous man who shared his time and talents as well as the bounty of his garden with his neighbors, family and friends. He was an amazing supportive father and grandfather. He relied on his deep Catholic Faith and extended his weekly blessings to all.

Dave was predeceased by his wife Karen (Boyd) Feider in 2011; his youngest brother Richard in 2012; and his parents Paul (2000), and Agnes (Holm) Feider (1984).

He will be dearly missed by his children Beth (Don) Jury, Eric (Connie) and Patrick (Stefanie), his seven grandchildren, brother Paul (Kathy) and sister Barbara (Jim) DeShirley as well as 11 nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass is being held at St. Anthony's in Renton, Wash., on March 25th at 10 a.m. Due to covid restrictions, there will be no after mass gathering. His ashes will be spread at the family farm in Davenport, Wash. at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Anthony's Church of Renton or the Charity of your choice.
