WALLA WALLA–Eleven members of the Pomeroy Gun Club participated in all or some of the annual Camas Prairie Shoot at Walla Walla Gun Club over the weekend of March 17–20. It was decent, but slightly breezy, March conditions prevailed most of the event.
Thursday’s shoot, 100 Handicap targets were offered for those who set up camp in their RVs the day before the beginning of the Championship events. Wayne Tetrick started the weekend with a 94 which tied him for Champion runner-up with two other shooters, but Wayne did not hang around for the shoot off that earned a ½ yard of Handicap yardage in the event. Lee Blachly, Holly Ledgerwood and Tracy Hanger all shot scores in the 80s.
In Friday’s preliminary singles, Jim Adams broke a 98 to lead the PGC contingent in that event and Tracy Hanger broke a 97 which won her Lady I honors. Larry Bunch, Wayne Tetrick and Buck Geiger posted scores of 96 out of 100. Holly Ledgerwood had a 93 and the father-son duo of Lee and Beau Blachly had 92s. Terry John posted a 91.
In the day’s Handicap, Buck Geiger had a 92, Tetrick had a 90 and Tracy Hanger and Jim Adams put up scores of 88.
In Doubles, Adams and Hanger had a pair of 91s and Bunch had an 88. Adam’s score won him the High Veteran Trophy and Tracy’s score won her the Lady I trophy.
Saturday Doubles was the first event and Geiger posted an outstanding 95 which was good enough for “C” class Runner-up. Jim Adams had a 91, Larry Bunch posted an 85 and Tracy Hanger had an 84.
In Singles, Mason Blachly was the top shooter from Pomeroy with a 96, Larry Bunch and Holly Ledgerwood had 95s, Jim Adams put up a 93 and Lee Blachly, Tracy Hanger and Wayne Tetrick all had scores of 92.
Handicap was difficult that day and only Beau Blachly broke into the 90s with a score of 90. Tracy Hanger Hanger and Mason Blachly posted scores of 89 and Wayne Tetrick and Buck Geiger had 88s. Holly Ledgerwood put an 86 on the score board.
During Sunday’s singles, scoring was a little tougher but Jim Adams and Buck Geiger managed totals of 96, Wayne Tetrick had a 95, Larry Bunch posted a 92, and Lee Blachly had a 91. Holly Ledgerwood had an 87 which gave her a two-day total of 182 X 200 and Runner-up honors in the Lady II competition. Mason Blachly’s two-day total of 185 earned him Runner-up in the Junior Gold Division.
In Sunday’s Handicap, Tracy Hanger beat all the boys with a score of 91, Mason Blachly had an 89, Bunch had an 87 and Beau Blachly posted an 86.
This coming Sunday the Club will have their annual post Camas Prairie Barbecue/Potluck and annual business meeting and election of Officers along with Club award for the 10–week shoot. Some shooting games will begin at 9 a.m. and all shooters and families are encouraged to attend.
