County insurance provider increases rates

POMEROY–The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) announced an insurance rate increase, a bid opening date for the Garfield County fairgrounds electrical project, and the reception of a certificate of good practice from the County Road Administration Board at its meeting on May 16.

The county’s insurance provider, Washington Counties Insurance Fund (WCIF), has increased their rates by 33%, which includes an additional service of cyber security support. The commissioners are having further conversation with WCIF.

Advertising for bids on the fairgrounds electrical project will begin and the opening date for the bids is set for the BOCC June 21 meeting. The project will need to be completed by August 26 to support the 2022 Garfield County Fair in September.

The Garfield County Road Crew received a certificate of good practice from the Washington State County Road Administration Board. It certifies that Garfield County follows the standards the board has set. “Keep up the good work,” Commissioner Jim Nelson said in praise of the Road Crew.
