New hospital survey results expected next week

POMEROY–– The permanent swing bed situation, electrical project and scholarship recipients were topics discussed at the Garfield County Hospital District Board of Commissioners (GCHD) meeting June 6.

The Washington State Department of Health and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services sent a different team of surveyors to conduct a new survey in place of the one that was paused because of the rally last month. The official results are expected next week, but during exit interviews, they stated they found no observations or citations on the swing-bed program.

Co-CEO Mat Slaybaugh said he does not expect issues with the permanent swing-beds to come with the official results.

The HUGS committee scholarships were awarded to Raelin Borley and Colton Slaybaugh. Each will receive $500.

The electrical project is in the design phase. Due to long lead times for material shipping, the Hospital will order the materials as soon as the design is finished so they will arrive in time for the planned beginning of construction in the spring of 2023. Some materials have a 40-week lead time.
