Health District hires Shelly Slaybaugh as community health worker

POMEROY-The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) was advised of new hire for the Health District; and discusses an idle account at their meeting on August 15.

The Health District reported that they have hired Shelly Slaybaugh as Garfield County’s community health worker under South Eastern Washington Alliance for Health’s program which is placing community health workers in several local counties. They also approved resolutions 2022-15 and 2022-16.

Resolution 2022-15 creates Amendment 6 to the Department of Health’s consolidated contract, adding $879,000 Foundation of Public Health Services funding to create a total amount of $2,266,221 of funding for the year. Resolution 2022-16 brings $14,500 funding and combines both marijuana and tobacco prevention programs into one that is handled through Walla Walla County Health Department.

An equipment repair and replacement (ERR) account which was used before Garfield County Transportation Authority became a separate entity has been sitting idle, and the funds inside will be dealt with. It will most likely roll into the county’s general ERR account. Its fate will be determined at the next commissioners’ meeting.
