POMEROY–The Garfield County Fair was filled with livestock, crafts, pictures of all kinds, flowers, wood craft, baked goods, canning, dehydrating and so much more; the usual collection of items to show and share. Some events were changed up a bit to observe precaution or accommodate a greater number of entries. Whatever the case, the results of the judged events are captured here for you.
The livestock show and sale had a great turnout this year. The Grand and Reserve Champions received recognition before the sale on Saturday afternoon. The following are the winners of the Grand and Reserve Champion livestock.
Kendall Dixon, FFA Grand Champion Market Steer, left, sold at $6 per pound to Pomeroy Grain Growers, represented by Derek Teal and Four Star Supply, represented by Bill Fisher. FFA member Grayson Slaybaugh sold his 1339-pound Reserve Champion Market Steer for $5.50 per pound to Naslund Disposal, represented by Kevin Kreisher.
Brodie Magill, FFA sold his Grand Champion Market Hog for $12 per pound to Obenland & Low represented by Tara Hodges and Bank of Eastern Washington represented by Callie Warren. Chase Caruso, FFA, received $15 per pound for his Reserve Champion Market Hog purchased by E&S Farms represented by Dylan Smith and 7X Farms represented by Scott Wolf.
Kendyl Tetrick, 4-H, sold her Grand Champion Market Hog for $27 per pound to Huminsky Coins represented by Robin Beale. 4-Her Tyler Dixon sold his Reserve Champion Market Hog for $11 per pound to Hickam Well Drilling represented by Jake Davis.
Ladd Baser, 4-H, received $15 per pound for his Grand Champion Market Lamb purchased by State Rep. Mary Dye, R-9 State Sen. Mark Schoesler, R-9; and State Rep. Joe Schmick, R-9. Conrad Nelson sold his 4-H Reserve Champion Market lamb to Columbia Pulp represented by Kyler Lovgren.
Hannah Bagby, FFA, sold her Grand Champion Market Goat for $21 per pound to M&M Farming and Mike Hastings. Merritt Scoggin, FFA, received $18 per pound for his Reserve Champion Market goat from Rogers Motors and Rustebakke Veterinary Service represented by Kevin Whittaker.
Kiara Marquez, 4-H, sold her grand Champion Market Steer to Peters & Keatts, represented by Wayne Tetrick, for $5 per pound. Josiah Ledgerwood received $3.50 per pound for his 4-H Reserve Champion Market steer. Purchaser was Lewis Clark Credit Union represented by Sherrie Ledgerwood.
Fitting and Showing champions winners in the beef category are: Jr/Sr. FFA Grand Champion, Kendall Dixon; Reserve Champion went to Trevin Kimble; Fresh/Soph FFA Grand Champion is Colby Ledgerwood, Reserve Champion, Grayson Slaybaugh; Intermediate 4-H Grand Champion was Molly Warren, Reserve Champion, Nolan Newberg; Junior 4-H Grand Champion went to Kiara Marquez and Reserve Champion Treyton Kimble.
In the Hog category Jr/Sr FFA Grand Champion Fitting and Showing went to Jaeden Slusser and the Reserve Champion was Brodie Magill; Fresh/Soph FFA Grand Champion was Ellezea Potoshnik and Reserve Champion was Levi Henderson; In the intermediate 4-H Fitting and Showing, Jack Baser received Grand Champion and Tyler Dixon received Reserve Champion; the Junior 4-H Grand Champion was Kendyl Tetrick and reserve Champion was Myka Horal.
Sheep Fitting and Showing, the 4-H intermediate Grand Champion was Conrad Nelson, Reserve Champion Rory McKeirnan, Junior 4-H Grand Champ was Ladd Baser, Reserve Champion Sidney Wolf, Fresh/Soph FFA Grand Champion went to Caroline McKeirnan.
The goat fitting and showing Jr/Sr FFA Grand Champion went to Tyler Bagby, Reserve Champion Merritt Scoggin and the Junior 4-H Champion went to Claire Zinn.
