LEWISTON–Pomeroy High School senior Samuel Lamb and junior Cash Copher set new personal best records at the Saturday, October 1, cross country meet here.
“Samuel Lamb and Cash Copher both obtained their PR for the season with a couple more races left before Regionals,” commented Head Coach Greg Sharp.
At the Inland Empire Championships, which included a field of 223 competitors from 48 high schools, Copher finished 218th with a time of 23:43. Not far behind Copher was Lamb, who came in 219th with a 23:59 time. Tyler Sainsbury of Meridian, Idaho, won with a 14:48 time in the 5k race.
Middle schooler Oscar Dispenza came in 25th of 73 entrants in the 2.5k race, with a time of 10:34. Lucas Clements of Lewiston was first in 8:11.
At Northeast 1B/2B League Meet South at St. John on Tuesday, September 27, Copher and Lamb finished 24th and 27th, respectively. Copher covered the 5k golf-course run in 25:17 with Lamb coming in with a 26:42 time. There were 35 entrants and Brendan Snekvik of Gar-Pal win in 17:43.
“The course was relatively flat and our athletes ran a great race today,” Sharp said.
Dispenza ran the 1½-mile middle school course in 11 minutes flat, finishing 16th out of 52 runners. Top finisher was Mason Kern of Asotin in 9:22.
