Hyer to continue as Garfield County Sheriff

POMEROY–Mid-term elections have closed and results show 77.59% of Garfield County turned out to vote, with incumbent Sheriff Drew Hyer winning the one contested race for Garfield County Sheriff against challenger Kurt Miller, accumulating a 130-point spread or more than a 10 percent of the total votes, according to the Washington Secretary of State and Garfield County election website on November 14, 2022 after 5 p.m.

In the State of Washington, Garfield County has 1,687 registered voters and 1,309 or 77.59% came out to vote in this mid-term election which put us first in the State with Columbia County following at 77.1% The State has 4,805,688 registered voters and only 58.42% of them came for this mid-term. The remaining ballots yet to be counted are 210,000.

Garfield County results for local positions are: County Assessor: Brian Bartels with 1005 votes or 96.08%, Write-in 41 or 3.92%, Total votes 1046; County Auditor: McKenzie Lueck received 1,113 votes or 98.93%, Write-in 12 or 1.07%, Total votes 1,125; County Clerk: Marie Gormsen 1,078 votes or 97.03%, Write-in 33 or 2.97%, Total votes 1,111; County Commissioner: No. 3 Justin E. Dixon 956 votes or 93.63%, Write-in 65 or 6.37%, Total votes 1,021; County Prosecutor: Matt L. Newberg 1-31 votes of 97.08%, Write-in 65 or 2.92%, Total votes 1.062; County Sheriff: incumbent Drew W. Hyer 699 votes or 54.74%, Kurt Miller (R) 569 votes or 44.56%, Write-in 9 votes or 0.7%, Total votes 1,277; County Treasurer: Tereasa Summers 970 votes or 96.23%, Write-in 38 votes or 3.77%, Total votes 1,008; District Court Judge: Thomas W. Cox 1024 votes or 98.46%, Write-in 16 votes or 1.54%, Total votes 1,040.
