POMEROY–The Community Scholarship raffle wagons, this year's senior project of Jillian Herres, left and Chase Caruso, right, are now available for viewing and tickets can be purchased at all home basketball games. Each wagon has a value of $500 up to $1,500.
The Community Scholarship was created in 2019 by Alex Bremer as a senior project, and has since been other senior projects, continuing to make available scholarship funds for subsequent seniors. This year Herres and Caruso continue the traditional project.
Scholarships will be presented to Pomeroy High School (PHS) seniors March 11 at a community dinner and "Meet and Greet" at Spinners Hall, which will also include announcing wagon winners. To be considered for this scholarship, PHS seniors will present visual boards answering three specific questions and photos of them through the years.
A community committee will decide on recipients of scholarship funds through each of the senior's written cover letters, and visual boards answering three specific questions. The seniors will also participate in the "Meet and Greet" at the dinner so those community members attending can get to know each of the 2023 pre-graduates.
All money from ticket sales will go toward the scholarship fund.
